Holy Spirit Catholic School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Resource Teacher to join our learning community. The ideal candidate will hold a Virginia teaching license or be eligible for VCEA licensure, with a background in Special Education. The Resource Teacher will work with students diagnosed with learning disabilities, utilizing evidence-based instructional methods, including the Orton-Gillingham approach, to support student learning and growth. This role requires a commitment to the Catholic mission of Holy Spirit Catholic School and alignment with its policies and values.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide individualized and small group instruction to students with learning differences.

Implement the Orton-Gillingham method and other evidence-based strategies to support literacy and learning.

Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and adapt lesson plans that meet diverse learning needs.

Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and adjustments to instructional methods as needed.

Maintain accurate records of student performance and IEP goals.

Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, and administration regarding student progress and support plans.

Support the Catholic mission of the school by promoting respect, kindness, and service within the learning environment.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Education or Special Education required.

Virginia State Teaching License or eligibility for VCEA licensure required.

Certification or training in the Orton-Gillingham method strongly preferred.

Experience working with students diagnosed with learning disabilities.

Strong communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.
