Holy Spirit Catholic School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Resource Teacher to join our learning community. The ideal candidate will hold a Virginia teaching license or be eligible for VCEA licensure, with a background in Special Education. The Resource Teacher will work with students diagnosed with learning disabilities, utilizing evidence-based instructional methods, including the Orton-Gillingham approach, to support student learning and growth. This role requires a commitment to the Catholic mission of Holy Spirit Catholic School and alignment with its policies and values.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized and small group instruction to students with learning differences.

• Implement the Orton-Gillingham method and other evidence-based strategies to support literacy and learning.

• Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and adapt lesson plans that meet diverse learning needs.

• Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and adjustments to instructional methods as needed.

• Maintain accurate records of student performance and IEP goals.

• Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, and administration regarding student progress and support plans.

• Support the Catholic mission of the school by promoting respect, kindness, and service within the learning environment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or Special Education required.

• Virginia State Teaching License or eligibility for VCEA licensure required.

• Certification or training in the Orton-Gillingham method strongly preferred.

• Experience working with students diagnosed with learning disabilities.

• Strong communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.

• Understanding and commitment to the mission and values of Holy Spirit Catholic School.
