Chief Financial Officer - Bishop O’Connell High School has an immediate opening for a Chief Financial Officer. This position reports directly to the Head of School with the following responsibilities:
- Prepares the financial reports.
- Coordinates the conduct of the external audit and the preparation of the school’s audited financial statements.
- Prepares budgets and closely monitors actual results to budget performance throughout the year.
- Oversees Accounts Receivable, Payables, and Payroll.
- Maintains all personnel files and monitors policies to determine compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Responsible for school cash management and maintaining banking relationships related to school operations, school activities, student organizations, booster organizations, and team fundraiser funds.
- Supervises the office staff consisting of five direct reports.
- Recommends and monitors capital improvements.
- Serves as the primary staff liaison to the Finance Committee and the Facilities Committee and prepares the necessary documents to keep these committees informed as to the school’s financial position.
- Negotiates all outside contracts and oversees the performance of all outside contractors (i.e. maintenance, cleaning, landscaping, and cafeteria). Director of Facilities has a dotted line responsibility to CFO.
- Works closely with the Director of Information Technology who has a dotted line responsibility to the CFO.
- Supervises the school store and monitors the purchasing of inventory and sales.
- Monitors safety and security of buildings and determines compliance with county, state, and federal codes.
- Reviews and approves all requisitions.
- Manages the awarding of financial aid and prepares notification to parents.
- Works closely with Head of School and Principal on all major decisions regarding finance, personnel, and capital improvements.
- Works closely with diocesan business representatives and corresponding business managers from other diocesan high schools to promote uniformity of policy and procedures.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates hold a Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management and/or have 5 to 7 years management level experience in accounting, business management or finance. A background in non-profit accounting is strongly preferred.
