St. Michael Catholic School is seeking a faith-filled, dynamic Middle School Religion Teacher to guide students in deepening their understanding and practice of the Catholic faith. The ideal candidate is a practicing Catholic who is passionate about Catholic theology, committed to the mission of Catholic education, and skilled in connecting with middle school students in a meaningful and engaging way.
Position Overview
The Religion Teacher will lead students in grades 6–8 through the Church’s teachings, Sacred Scripture, Church history, and the Sacraments, while modeling a life of prayer, virtue, and service. This teacher will also help prepare students for important faith milestones and foster a classroom environment that promotes spiritual growth and academic excellence.
Qualifications

Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church

Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Education, or a related field (required)

Religion Certification or willingness to pursue catechetical certification (preferred)

Experience teaching middle school students in a Catholic school or parish setting (preferred)
- State certification or VCEA eligibility for certification in teaching (preferred)

Strong classroom management and communication skills

A deep understanding of and commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church

Enthusiastic about integrating Catholic values across the curriculum and school culture
Responsibilities

Teach Religion to students in grades 6–8 following diocesan-approved curriculum

Prepare students for participation in liturgies, prayer services, retreats, and sacraments

Create a classroom environment centered on faith, respect, and academic engagement

Collaborate with colleagues, clergy, and administration to support the spiritual life of the school

Maintain accurate records and provide timely feedback on student progress

Actively participate in school Masses, faith formation activities, and professional development
