St. Mark Catholic School is searching for an additional Special Education Teacher to join our Student Support Services team. Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree, experience teaching students with various learning abilities and challenges, and a desire to work for a Catholic school.
St. Mark is a mid-sized Catholic pre-school through grade 8 school in Vienna, Virginia. We have two classes per grade from Kindergarten through grade 8, with an average of 20-24 students per class. Grade level and content area teachers work closely to provide a challenging and supportive educational experience for students. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be an integral part of the St. Mark faculty, and will be responsible for providing support to K-8 students with a variety of learning abilities. You will collaborate with classroom teachers to support and adapt existing curriculum and ensure that students' classroom and testing accommodations are being met. You will also write Student Assistance Plans tailored to each student's gifts, strengths, and abilities and communicate with parents and faculty on a regular basis regarding student progress.
The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:
-Degree or certification in special education -Strong proponent of inclusion -Comfortable providing support to all levels of learners -Able to collaborate with general education and special education teachers -Experience as a special education teacher or similar role -Experience working with children with a wide range of abilities -Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills
-Enjoy working with youth, and a desire to help students grow in faith, knowledge, and service
